The ppsx file has it open automatically as a slide show.
And I regret saving that way, (first time!) because even I can't make any changes or save it as something else and edit it.
I wonder if the videos are not working because the location of the files are not where they were originally (like a sound file doesn't always work when the ppt is downloaded).
I will remove it because I think it will only cause frustration for those who try to use it. If you can't get it to work Sylvia... then everyone else is sure to have difficulties too.
Sorry. My intentions were good. |

Ok, one more shot at it.
This ppt is saved as a ppt file. It has video clips in it, not really relevant to the lyrics (numbers) but the students actually oohed and ahhed and said "Cool" and stuff that I think meant "cool".
This is the older version of Juli Powers' Comptimons chanson
Hope this works.

I don't know what to do to make it so that the videos will actually work after someone else downloads it.
But I can tell you how I did it. I downloaded the video clips from Animation Factory (paid subscription necessary) to the place I store my pictures. Then, in PowerPoint, instead of Insert Picture, I Insert Movie, from File. Play Automatically. Under Movie Tools, which is active once you click on the video clip box, select Loop film.
It really was easy.
If someone knows how I can share these, please let me know.
I love them and so do my students. It would be a shame not to "saisir l'attention et l'intérêt" des autres élèves aussi. |

Well I think because it's YOUR subscription to Animation Factory that might be the problem - you're not supposed to share those sorts of files maybe??? |

| Now, I haven't downloaded the files, but I do insert videos into PowerPoints all the time and here is my guess about the problem. When you actually save the file, there are two ways of doing it. For one of them, the video file is not actually imbedded IN the PP, but instead the PP remembers where you have the file saved. This means, of course, if you send the PP to someone else that for the video files, they will see the starting image, but it will not play. Another way of saving things is to actually save the videos in the PP. This makes your PP files huge, but it means that they are easier to share with other people. When I make backup PP files before workshops, I always make sure that the videos are part of the backup, because otherwise, I won't be able to show them! Have a look at the size of the PP compared to the size of the video files you think are in the PP and then see if my guess is correct. |

Your explanation sounds on-the-mark, Karen. Do you know how Karen2 can save the videos in the PP properly?

| I'll have to ask my tech guy. I used to use PP, but now I actually use Keynote and my default is to save it that way.... This, of course, means that I don't remember! I'll send him an email right now! |

| OK. It looks like you either need to use "pack and go" or go to "publish" followed by "package for CD" and then choose to make a folder that includes the links to your video files. See if you can figure it out because this is a useful thing to be able to do! |

I think KarenO is right on target with the problem. I actually saved onto memory stick today and installed it on another computer. Same problem.
It's not an issue of being allowed to share it.
I will have to figure out how to do this the right way, because these really are awesome and the kids love them.
I'll try to work on it.
the video clips are .wmv files (windows media video) |

Karen WAS right.
I saved the ppt and the wmv (video clip) file together in a folder, then uploaded the folder to mediafire. I tried it between two different computers at home. The video clip worked. The file is much larger now. And took me 20 minutes to upload - dial up
I am sharing Sylvia's Superhero ppt, which has only one video clip in it. It will take me a while to be able to share the other 2, but I will do it, eventually. I had changed a few graphics from the original, but I hadn't planned on sharing this ppt.
I did leave the sound horn on the page with the flying superhero to show where I actually inserted the music file on my own computer. I did not include the music file in the folder. I would have it set to start the music automatically when the page opens, then I would manually advance the slides.
It took me a whole year to figure out how much easier it is to have the music actually playing inside the ppt. The students still have to manually advance the slides and the music does not play at school, only from my computer.

YAY... it works now.... thanks for all of your efforts, Karen! It's really fabulous!
(for others: you need to download the PPT and the .wmv file to get the video animation to work. You don't need the "thumbs"). |
