We have divided Certification into two parts.
Part One: Pre-Certification
Practical: Improving your classroom practice
In Part One, you will receive one-to-one mentoring from a certified AIM teacher/mentor who will start where you are and help move your practice forward with AIM! Through sharing video samples and student work, you will receive guidance and feedback that is highly personalized and based on your implementation of the methodology.
Prerequisites:
- Must have taught at least a Step One and Step Two AIM Kit
- Must have been using AIM for at least three years
- Must have attended at least one in-person workshop
You will receive:
- Personalized AIM support and mentoring
- Access to our Online Teacher Training Site
Requirements: Candidates will have one year to:
- Submit classroom video footage of lessons as well as student work samples that demonstrate successful implementation of the AIM
- Pre-certification candidates have access to the full OTT site and are encouraged to explore all modules. However, in order to complete Pre-certification, they must successfully complete three of the following four modules:
- What makes AIM Accerlerative
- Target Language Only
- Gestures and Teacher Led Self-Expression
- AIM and Spontaneity
Part Two: Full Certification
Theoretical: Improving your knowledge of why AIM works
In Part Two, you will continue to work with a mentor and will deepen your understanding of various techniques and strategies of the methodology. This knowledge will bring even further improvement of practical implementation of the methodology. As you develop your ability to speak knowledgeably about AIM to others, this may also lead to opportunities to facilitate AIM workshops.
Prerequisites:
- Must have taught at least a Step One and Step Two AIM Kit
- Must have been using AIM for at least three years
- Must have attended at least one in-person workshop
- Successful completion of Pre-certification
You will receive:
- Personalized AIM support and mentoring
- Access to our Online Teacher Training Site
Requirements: Candidates will have one year to:

- Submit posts to the AIM Forum in each of the 11 modules
- Successfully complete the remaining eight remaining Online Teacher Training Site modules. (Successful completion is defined as a score of at least 85% on quizzes and completing all assessed reflections.)
- Submit classroom video footage of ‘exemplary’ lessons using the AIM and that include teacher creative use of the methodology
- Submit student work samples that demonstrate ‘exemplary’ implementation of the AIM
- Provide analysis of classroom video samples
You can receive 15 University credits if you complete the Certification Course.
